Vice President Mark Gibian SC has been serving as the Vice President of the Fair Work Commission since his appointment in June 2024. Prior to this role, he was a barrister at HB Higgins Chambers in Sydney, commencing his practice in 2002 and being appointed Senior Counsel in 2018. Throughout his career at the bar, Vice President Gibian appeared in a range of significant cases, including successfully representing the TWU in challenging Qantas’ decision to outsource ground handling operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, securing pay rises of up to 28.5% for the HSU in the aged care work value case, and winning the insertion of a minimum wage floor in the Horticulture Award with the AWU.

    IRSV Advocacy Series 2

Ethics and Etiquette at the FWC

Industrial Relations Society of Victoria (IRSV) are delighted to invite all IRS members to their Advocacy Skills webinar series focusing on Ethics and Etiquette at the FWC.

When: Wednesday 30 July at 5:00pm.

    Where: Online

The Fair Work Commission's new and expanded jurisdictions mean that there is more appearance work at the Commission for our members. The complexity of that appearance work will vary, and will be a daunting task for many of us.

Chris O'Grady KC and Franceska Leoncio have agreed to share their expertise on how to appear at the Commission from start to end, and to share their guidance on how to do it ethically and in a way that best assists the Commission.

Former Commissioner Nick Wilson will then share his insights on the topic - gained from more than 12 years on the bench, observing advocates before him.

The webinar is complimentary for IRS members nationally and will be held online.

    Members registration – Complimentary
    Non-Members registration - $120.00

A webinar link will be sent to attendees prior to the webinar.
