IRSV Advocacy Series 1

  Mediation in the Federal Courts

IRSV (Industrial Relations Society of Victoria) are delighted to invite all IRSV members to our first Advocacy Series Seminar for 2025

Advocacy Skills Series 1: Mediation in the Federal Courts

Mediation in the Federal Courts

When one compares the rate of certificates that are issued under s 368, and the amount of matters that are finally determined by the Federal Courts, it is clear that there is an inordinate about of justice done in mediation in the Federal Courts.

This access to justice goes unheralded, and mediation at the Federal Courts has rarely talked about in industrial relations circles. Until now!

Amelia Edwards and Jacinta Ellis, National Judicial Registrars of the Federal Court of Australia, have kindly agreed to share some insights. They will shed some light on the statistics of their work as mediators in Fair Work matters, identify some trends, provide some helpful tips and tricks, and will otherwise be available to answer questions. It promises to be a practical session, in which those who regularly litigate matters in the Federal Courts will leave with some new information to deploy in their industrial relations practice.

Gemma Carroll (Senior Associate, KHQ Lawyers) will facilitate the seminar.
(see this link for further information):

The seminar will be held online via Zoom (link to be provided). The seminar is free for ALERA SA Members.
